Services include anger management, batterer intervention classes, sex offender and addiction evaluation and treatment, and mental health consultation.

     Stuart A. Stuthers MS, LMHC has been a Florida licensed mental health counselor since 1992 with various specialties and credentials including National Board Certification as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.  He is a Qualified Marriage & Family Therapy Intern Supervisor, Qualified Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, and Qualified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist in the State of Florida.  He received his Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's In Science in Counseling Psychology from California State University - Fullerton with a specialty in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling.  Before leaving California in 1990, he attended post graduate studies in Contextual & Constructual Family Therapy with Marshall Jung at the University of Southern California School of Social Work and completed internships at Metropolitan State Hospital, Norwalk, California; Chino Community Services, Chino, California; and, Angel's Flight, Hollywood, California.   

     Over the years, he has accumulated specialty training in the area of Transformational Communication, Trauma Resolution & Victim Assistance (NOVA), Success Motivation Coaching, Domestic Abuse & Violence (Duluth Model), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Imago Couples & Individual Therapy.  He specialized for several years in highly conflicted family law disputes and served the Twelfth and Twentieth Judicial Circuit Courts in Florida with court appointments as Parenting Coordinator, Child Custody Evaluator, Social Investigator, Guardian Ad Litem,  and Evaluator - Expert involving Parental Alienation. 

     Mr. Stuthers is a periodic guest on local talk AM-WCCF 1580, Charlotte County Speaks, and 1480 WFLN, News Radio speaking on a variety of local and national topics involving the psychological undercurrents of mass media, violence, gun control, politics, mental health, racism, and corporate humanism.  He has served as a conference presenter for the National Association of Forensic Counselors (NAFC) and the the Forensic Training Institute (FTI) on Structured Dialogical Group Treatment and is a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA).  His approach emphasizes orthodox, traditional strategies of intervention within a framework that bridges the Good Lives and Risk-Need-Responsivity models of treatment and humanistic psychology.

     Mr. Stuthers is the founder and former owner of Harbor Counseling & Family Services and the Lighthouse Addiction Recovery Program in Charlotte County, Florida from 1994 - 2004.  He owned and operated Counseling & Consulting Services in Punta Gorda, Florida through the IMPAC Corporate Business Center where he specialized in success motivation coaching and small business consulting and employee relations - team building.  Over the years he has provided counseling and consulting services in schools, hospitals, and private practice.  He has worked in various state prisons and remains employed as a Mental Health Specialist in a medium security prison where he provides crisis intervention, anger management, sex offender treatment, psychiatric screening, counseling, and case management services to medium and close custody inmates.

     Currently, Mr. Stuthers is working towards completion of a doctoral dissertation on applied structured dialogical therapy under the mentoring and direction of Harris Friedman, PhD (click). 

     His private practice focuses on under-served and difficult client populations that other clinicians are under-trained or unwilling to assist.  Thus, his mission is to provide simple counseling solutions that are easily accessible, affordable and targeted to individuals and families who would not otherwise have access to quality mental health care.
